Now I think I can see why 1700 series tractors sometimes have a puzzling "drop down" issue-- it's a completely different set-up than on my 2310. Thanks for the video!

You are welcome.

Rider, don't the nut adjustments on the front mounting "U" bolt and the castor wheel settings also influence deck height and deck drop potential ? I would think the front "U" bolt mount offers a fair amount of adjustment in height alteration (1/2 " to an 1" ??). ???

By thevway . Your video efforts are very helpful . . But you sure could be a little more comfortable if you had a little "mini auto pit" to work in under the tractor . . . Its a little crowded under there lol.

Thanks for all your present and future efforts.

I really looked hard at the front mount. It is my understanding, the front mount will only lift the front of the deck up or down for leveling front to back. I don't think it will have any effect on the height of the lift arms. The main pivot point is the the lift arms. I could be wrong and have been in the past! All input welcome. I have another angle I am working in in my head to lift the deck to its fullest potential. I am about one inch out from correct.

Yea def nice write up. I never measured mine to see if the height is accurate with the knob adjustments.

I got a question tho my adjustment is difficult to turn with accuracy. What i mean is it is very stubborn to turn in one turn increments. I got to go back and fourth a bunch of times never a easy task to put it in lets say number 3 spot.

I don't know if the various mid mount mower decks have different deck heights or not . . but I always have read that the kubota bx product has a 9 inch clearance with the deck on and the massey gc17xx has 6.7 inches. I don't seem to get up to that 6.7 inch dimension with my mulching deck (not counting casters) and I'm not dure if there are any adjustments that would allow me to raise at full hydrauluc lift . . My mower clearance. But I also don't understand how the bx had room to get up to its claimed inches of clearance either . . . given its wheel sizes and floor heigjt are very similar to the Massey GC17xx.

And I thought sure you were slightly incorrect in the video about the deck cutying height adjustment knob being inches . . As I thought they were settings and were each less than an inch . . I could just see the paragraph in my head lol. So I looked through both my manuals and I couldn't find that paragraph. I now think it was for my lawn tractor . . But I sure paged through those manuals several times just to prove you were right and I wasn't lol.

One thing I noticed, the mower deck gear box is much taller on my 60 inch deck than a Kubota. It also does not have a hour meter.

As much as I studied kubota bx product over several years . . Neither of those things you mentioned did I ever notice were different from my eventual choice of the Massey gc1715. As closely watched by the competitor's engineers . . I wonder what advantage Massey gets out of the larger gearbox to justify the height difference . . . it certainly can't be gearbox oil capacity because there isn't a great deal of gear oil in them lol.

And the bx products have an hour meter tracking for the mmm ????. Interesting feature.
