Sunday night one of our patrolmen was responding to a call down the highway when he hit a bull. Thankfully he wasn't hurt... the car however didn't fair as well...

Ouch.

What broke the windshield?
On a sidenote (but related), I see a lot of the grill guards (or pushers or whatever you call them) on the cars. Most mfgrs say not to put them on since it can change if/when the airbags will deploy. Any thoughts? Did they deploy in this case?

Is the bull OK, or is there a BBQ coming up in the near future?

I think that was the officer's cabeza! I wonder how fast he was traveling?
I see the Crown Vic is no match for the bull, so how's the bull?
Or, did it have to go tho the butcher?

A bull can make a mess of a car, can't it. Was the farmer laible???

The worst one I saw was a woman who hit a moose in a little Ford something-or-other up in Big Piney, Wyoming. She went underneath it and it rolled up and over the roof, flattening it. The front of the car was untouched but the roof was flattened down to the level of the hood. It looked as if she had rolled it. She walked away unhurt too, shaken with a few bruises. Amazing.

Considering the size of most full-grown bulls, I think the car came through remarkably well. A ton-and-a-half bull is not something I ever want to run into at any speed, although I've seen several bulls and cows running loose on the highways. If I see one and nobody is around, I normally stop and put on my emergency flashers to get people to at least slow down. Then I get on the cell phone to get help.

I hope the officers weren't hurt, looks like the car didn't do so well.

Please keep my name on the list for the upcoming BBQ. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The bull's head is what broke the windshield and yes... it did die. There is hair and literally "bull****" all over the car! The officer did come out of it ok. Needless to say he was shaken up and the air bag hit him.... but all and all ok. They had to call out a winch truck to remove the bull from the road.

Bczoom.. we have never had any trouble with the pushbars affecting the airbags. They are built pretty weak and will bend just trying to push a car.
