Watching Moonshiner's show?

How many are taking this one in? It is already wearing on me? $40.00 a gallon for shine? Wow....Sugar at $30.00 for 50 lbs. must be a back door special??:laughing:

If you look at a quart of whiskey going for around 20.00 in the stores, then 4x20 would be 80.00 for a gallon.
I thought I saw something that said 2lbs of sugar for every gallon, which would be about
25 gallons, so $40.00(what they are getting per gallon)x25= $1000
(there are more costs such as grain, and propane ,and if your not too skilled skin grafts and lawyers. )

I believe that there are several members here on TBN that have tasted authentic moonshine made from a still. I am not referring to the product that is sometimes sold in liquor stores. We would always pour a little shine in the mason jar lid and light it with a match. If there was a blue flame, it was okay to drink. If there was a brownish-yellowish flame, you had better pour the shine out. Drinking it would make you really sick, and in some cases even deaths resulted in drinking it. Just a thought.

Yes, he talked about Methanol..He just sniffed it to test and throw away the first quart. That is a really big guess on Poison ? India just lost 140 souls to bootleg methanol in moonshine. Over two years ago it was over 180 at wedding party in India, due to shine from a used radiator for a coil? Anyway, it seems to be a lot of baloney to me? I have seen stills here, they were axed, but still pretty good sized. Now they were bragging about using an AR-15 if they get found, witht he goods? Looks like his Ole Chevy would be able to spot that in the dark any day?Entertainment in different forms?

Didn't even know there was a show. Doesn't sound like it's worth viewing. The reason for the bum shine is corner cutting. It's too expensive to make anymore so they chop cost where they can. The old guys I knew made it as a hobby and to brag who had the best. I was told to do it right you lose money.

I have never heard of the show or even seen it. But what I have read about it here, it sounds like the typical "Reality Show" that is becoming more prevalent on TV stations now. I am not a gambler, but I would bet a Dollar Bill that the main character is trying his best to draw a viewing audience by his antics. I am not trying to be judgmental without possessing all the facts, but I guarantee that my Grandfather could have taught him a trick or two. Now if this character had lived during the Depression years, and resided in East Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, West-by God-Virginia or some other States, I would have given more credence to his "Braggart Skills". As far as the comment that was stated in regards to his possible use of his weapon, I would bet another Dollar Bill, that when confronted with a team of professional law enforcement officers possessing fully automatic weapons, his pants would not only be wet, but also contain a large amount of fecal matter. Just my thoughts.

The one guy named Tim (cowboy hat and bibs without a shirt) had a beeper go off and he had to run quick while at the still. Turns out he is a village / town Fire Chief and had a fire to go to. After the fire the film crew was at the fire house and all the fireman were there. No one had thier faces hidden or blurred.

Makes me wonder 2 things:

1 - if this is a legit "moonshiner", does he not know this will get him caught?

and

2- Is this a "scripted" fake show which just shows the steps moonshiners use or have used in order to make shine?

After the first few episode how could no one know that your fire chief is a moonshiner and then how long would it take for him to get busted and possibly fired...

These are some of the dumbest things I've ever seen.
"Ice Road Truckers" was probably one of the first (except the the "Wives of (name the city)") and was pretty good for a while. Same with "COPS"
But then they have to introduce some kind of crisis or other drama...so fake!
I cannot see how anyone could watch this crap continuously...

Anyway, as far as "Moonshiners"...nope...real moonshiners aren't going to display their business on national TV, are they?
