water ballast and bh-90

My tires are filled and when I use the BH I use the stabilizers just for that "stabalization" (sp) I don't raise the rear up. I have found that with filled tires & brakes set I don't drag the tractor backwards with the hoe.

I heard creaking when using my BH not too long ago and found the a few subframe bolts to be loose...so check them with heavy BH use.

I have a 5030 HST with a BH90 and loaded tires. While it is true that I have only had the unit set up this way for 40 hours (added the BH90 from my old 3830), I have had no trouble. I really do like having that extra weight down that low since the unit is so stable this way, but upon reading this thread will plan on taking it a bit easier when traversing uneven ground to limit the load forces being placed on the differential. I have noted, however, that the subframe connects to a whole slew of points on the tractor - only four bolts out of the way more than that actually connect to the differential (meaning that these things have limited choice but to move as one).

Just in case you are wondering, btw, it is true that the stabilizers cannot lift the tires fully off of the ground in all cases. I have, however, successfully used the stabilizers to bring the tractor level when starting on uneven ground.

If 5030 is triangulating loads in the side view or long axis of the tractor as I suspect, I can see some added loading on the trans and axle case. On the short axis across the axles, as some of us might be thinking, there isn't much that I can see that Kubota doesn't already allow. Here's hoping you get a good reply. Sure would clear up the speculation and let me know just how safe or crazy I am. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I am thinking of partiall filling the rears of my L39 for stability on hills. I would fill them a bit over 1/3 each.

Aside from the L39 being underpowered for its weight and I already have near 500 Lbs extra, between Armor, the thumb chainbox, tool box and grapple. my cocern is the strain on the front axle.
Yes I said the front axle.

The loader has good lift. Yesterday I was carting off a huge 7' Root ball from a stump pile the excavator made. It was stuck in the pile a bit. I was in first gear in revese while lifting & wiggling as I was backing up.

The rear of the tractor got over 1' off the ground.

Where is the load and the strain? In this case, the front axle. Torque and all the weight of the tractor and the lift on the front axle!

Once I pulled it from the pile I carried it real low as the ground was a slight bit of a tilt.

To see if the stablizers load lift the machine with extra weight, I will grb a big rock with the hoe and lift the machine.
