Water in Gasoline (10% Ethanol)

You have what is called phase separation. When E-10 picks up water in any signifficant quantity, the water pulls the ethanol out of the gas. that is what you are seeing on the bottom-a combination of the 10%ethanol and water. The ethanol is the oxygenate so what you have left above that water ethanol blend would no longer be a "legal" gasoline.

If you are ever fueling your vehicle and the pumps are running very slowly, bad sign! The stations pumps have filters and they are starting to clog because the location has water and phase separation is occurring.

Bottom line, You can pour off the "gas" into a container and gradually blend it off with fresh gas. As for the stuff in the bottom-it is NG-

good to know thanks:D

Keeping containers full and closed tight to prevent them from drawing in humidity is one option. I don't know how much fuel you are talking about, and one hates to be wasteful, but I would be reluctant to try to pour that into my equipement knowing that it holds some water. Its going to be tough to separate the water from the useful fuel. Hard to dispoose of too. Around here if you just leave the container out the meth-heads will be more than happy to take it off your hands.

no that is not good advice not with this ****--- years ago yes keep your tank full this new fuel the more in your tank the more water you will have especially in cold weather:ashamed:

Never said it didn't work. As I already said I'm not a fan of paying $8 for a can with 10cents worth of ingredients in it.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I am still a believer in keeping the tank full. If you are one of them that likes to run down to just fumes and then only put $5-$10 worth in, you are just asking for fuel pump failure. The fuel cools and lubricates the pump. If you keep running it dry, it wont last as long. In my vehichles I treat the 1/4 tank mark as E.

It just always amazes me the people whos cars are always on E because the "don't have any money". Well it doesn't cost any more to keep em on full:D

I agree. I can tell you that 9 out of 10 fuel related problems I come across are from not keeping the tank full, especially on boats and outdoor power equipment.

Makes me money so I guess having people not believe me to keep it full is a good thing.:thumbsup:

Add 2 ounces of Seafoam per gallon, mix it thorougly, and a bit more and it will be fine after that.

I agree.. some sort of 'drying' agent like heet.. or another alcohol mix should help out.. propanol.. etc..
