Tires Water in tires?

As long as you're not loading them with CC that's good. Otherwise I'd say they should have a say in a purchase that $$. I almost put CC in my tires but then I looked at an old M in the corner of my shop and how there was hardly anything left of the valves due to corrosion and I said forget it!

Still debating whether I go the WW route or just leave em. I don't like the idea of making a chemical pond everytime I get a flat. I do see the merits though, dont get me wrong.

I also have Rimgard in my rears on my 6500. Added 700+ lbs per tire. lots of weight -good for somethings- not so good for others. Anything that I want to do around the house will have to be when things are quite dry, or frozen.

The upside is when there is 2-3 feet of snow in the woods I think I will be able to get away without useing chains. Also the weight makes it quite stable when winching logs. I also have the rears set out some.

I have, in the past, loaded rears with CC. I hooked up the plumbing -all from the hardware store- mixed solution in a garbage can and pumped it in with a sump-type pump that I use in my basement. It worked fine. But then I have also seen the results of the CC rusting the rims out, which is why I made the rimgard part of my purchase deal.

If your woods are very flat then you might be ok in snow. I have a 6500 4WD with Rim Gaurd in rears. I run heavy ring chains on it on snow and ice. I know there places I could not go in my woods without chains. Having said that, I did put the chains on later and took them of earlier than on my two wheel drive with loaded tires. ( I love my 6500 4WD)

newtractor: Calcium Chloride. It is used because it gives quite a heavy solution that also will not freeze. It is corrosive. I don't have a problem using it in tube type tires, but I don't know if I would put in a tubeless tire. I have seen wheels eat plumb up by the stuff. Of course, these wheels were also 40 to 50 years old. How long do you plan to keep the tractor? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

It is definitely a good idea to load the tires. The added traction will help you more often than most people realize. Even pulling a box blade is easier with the extra weight.

Hey Wiam, where are you located? Do you twitch wood with your tractor? What else do you use it for? Just noisy.

Are you rear tires set out any? Before the dealer loaded mineI asked him to set mine out to the next location. They looked too close to the fenders to use chains comfortably. This will make it a little more stable, but then I have the extra width to contend with. Everything is a trade off.

In winter I use it to skid wood and feed round bales. Also for pushing back snow banks when the truck won't. I am in Barnet, VT. The dealer moved the rear tires all the way out before delivered it. I have moved the left one in one notch as it was too much on the windrow when square baling. When I first saw it at the dealer, I thought the same thing. "how am I going to put chains on those?"
I also have spread manure, round baled, loaded quite a few logs, tedded, raked and mowed hay. I haven't had it on the 10' wood rotary mower yet.
