waterproof radio/speakers?

I would like to add some tunes to the old tractor. Something to help pass the countless hours I will be brush hogging. The only thing I really see is the fender mounted radio at Northern Tool for $160. Are there other options? I looked at boat systems but they are not packaged in a nifty box for easy mounting. I was also considering a dewalt style construction radio that takes the tool batteries.

Considering the ambient noise levels on a tractor, especially doing bush hog work, you'd likely be better off with either ear buds or ear phones. How about an iPod? I can hardly hear myself think must less listen to music with just the diesel engine running.

Headphones would seem to make the most sense, but if you really want waterproof speakers look for marine stuff.

I cut 8 acres of grass and use ear buds with ear protection that I run through my phone on the wifi we have. It gives me a range of about 500' from the house. Over that range I use data.

You'll want to use the "work tunes" type headphones, too much noise, even just driving for speakers.

I use to mow about 100 acres of grass a year and after the first year I bought these Amazon.com: 3M Peltor WorkTunes Digital Hearing Protector, MP3 Compatible with AM/FM Tuner: Home Improvement.
They work great and I even used them when it was raining. The reception was really good on the radio portion, all of my mowing was in suburban areas and not to far from good radio signals. Mine are about 5 years old and still work great.

Any speakers used on Motorcycles should be contenders. I've got Hogtunes on my bike. But there are others out there......

I can't imagine being on my tractor mowing without hearing protection. Can you hear the music from speakers over the sound of the tractor and mower with hearing protection on? I used to wear ear buds and listen to music, but I kept having them ripped out of my ears by branches that would get a hold of them. A few times my phone went flying too. Fortunately I never ran over it with the mower, but I think it was just a matter of time until I did. I quit listening to music while mowing a few years ago and have come to appreciate the sound of the tractor and mower working hard instead with ear plugs in place to make it quieter.

I have the Jensen JHD 910 Combo system in the cab of my skid steer and its been great. You can hear it fine over the engine. And my Deere diesel is louder then my cousins open station Kubota CUT. A plus with this radio is its waterproof which is good when I forget to shut the cabs windows.
