Any of the asphalt based materials should be pretty comparable. Application might be a PITN, on production jobs they spray it on. for DIY you'll probably roll it. I've never done it myself, so I can't really recommend any technique.
That foundation coating is very similar to double coverage roof cement, some is marketed as both. I've used it for roofing but never used it on horizontal wall before, it is sticky and pretty thick I can only imagine that it would be a bear to roll on the wall uniformly.
I would be super extra cautious back filling that high, relatively thin walls.
That is a deep excavation, I would use 6 inch or two 4 inch perforated pipes set in 3/4 or 1 inch trap stone, below the top of the footing cover by 12 inches of stone and a filter fabric over that, I don't recommend a sock over the pipe. If you could get the pipe lower it would help drain those stone filled trenches under the footing.
