I had found that my '05 5.3 Chevy Crew 4x4 didn't like towing the 40 horse Kioti & implements up the steep grades in our county....it would shift down to first
. We bought a used diesel Jetta last Jan & have put over 30K on it since. I have been pleased with it's performance & fuel mileage. So i started thinking about a Diesel truck.
After picking up the '05 at the Chevy dealership for some minor warranty repair work, i checked on new truck prices. I was disapointed in the lack of any drastic incentives on GM's part after hearing all their woe. The dealership said that they sold 140 vehicles last month....hmmmm. Anyway, i asked about a used Duramax & they had just got one in: 3500 Silverado Ext cab, 4x4 dually, hidden goosneck hitch, Line-x, & running boards. It had 34K miles on it so i took a look/drive. Not a mark on the truck, clean, well taken care of. Pulled the carfax-one owner, the service records showed one warranty repair of the steering shaft(same one replaced on my '05 last year). They wanted 22K. It didn't have cruise control, so they agreed to add a GM one.
After some quick negotiations they ended up giving me 15,600 for my '05(well over high blue bok value). I thought it was a fare deal, so they installed the cruise & i drove it home. A couple of years ago i wouldn't have been able to touch a truck like this for under 30K.
I am pretty sure i won't have anymore towing problems....
. Just wondering if anyone else has taken advantage of the "economy" to get a good deal on Diesel?
