Ken,

I wanted to mention something about the pricing (I may have said this before)... As a consumer, I like knowing what I'm paying for the product and what I'm paying for shipping. The way your pricing is done, I have to choose my zone to get a total price, then choose Store Pickup to see how much the product itself costs. THEN, I can figure out what I'm getting tagged for shipping by doing the math.

If it were my site, I would find a way to show the [potential] customer the cost breakdown between the two. The fact of the matter is, shipping multiple products MAY or MAY NOT provide a break in shipping costs. As a consumer, I want to see prices that are as accurate and "real" as possible.

Additionally, you WILL lose customers that see a price for a product including shipping because they've seen the same (or reasonably similar) products elsewhere for much less (because the prices don't include shipping at the other locations). And, once the customer goes to that other site / store and starts the buying process, they won't bother coming back to your site once they realize the price is essentially the same.

I have the capabilities to price the way you mention, however, way too complicated for the 70 yr old customer. Much like a lost ball in high weeds. Info overload! For customers that want more details, I have Toll Free, Contact Us in the Menu, Email, and working on "Live Chat". The customers who like to be sure they are getting the "Very Best Deal" available will always figure prices themselves. Lots of time these customers buy for less at the expense of good service or dependable parts backup when they need to repair the implement. Ken Sweet

I can appreciate what you're saying... I would not figure your company / site to be that "niche", though, that you have things tailored to what seems to be a fairly small percent of the buying public. I know that some CMS / cart software allows you to easily switch back and forth between "total" price (including tax, for example) and product price. I don't remember if the ones that I use are user-configurable for that option though.

We are so "Niche" that I know the first 2 or 3 questions the customer asks when he calls. Actually no one that I know off comes close to what we do or on the scale the we work on. Ken Sweet

Then you might consider making your website cross-browser compatible. It's a mess in Firefox, and the map image is still HUGE. It's also worth considering image sizes and how they affect people who have dialup connections. Personally, I have a big internet "pipe" so it matters not to me, but to someone with 56k connection speeds, your website will be a nightmare to download and view.
Looks the same in Firefox 14 and Chrome to me.

One thing I would do is to make your descriptions less of a run-on paragraph. For example:

Would (IMO) be more readable as a list such as the one below, or at least with some line breaks:

When I first started listing items, I tried the method you show and I like it better, however, The line descriptions were limiting to 2-3 items per screenshot for the customer to view (long) before going to the next page. That is why I went back to the paragraph style. Notice I still left the *,s in there from the line type listings. I am using some color in the text to try to break it up some for the reader.
