I need to upgrade mine also, good discussion, I like the Davis... but not quite ready to spend that much money.

this will give you eye strain but has a lot of info in it. For me, I want accurate rain info, so for sure, I'd stay away
from the ones where the rain measurement gets a red ball.

I also belatedly read a lot of the other threads, many down below. Davis reigns, but the entry price is high. Less costly models work, but don't seem to work very long.

If you want a LOT of information from a LOT of weather forecasters try this forum:

WXforum.net - Index

Check the "Weather Station Hardware" section about half way down the page. If you decide on a particular model then it can be used to find out the details on what works and what doesn't.

Davis here also I have both the Vantage Vue and the Pro2 you can check my weather sites in my sig the Renton is the vantage pro2 and the Beachhouse is the Vantage Vue!! Not a problem with either one very satisfied....Davis has a program which I may use soon just because for my Pro2 send it in and for around $100 they overhaul and update it as needed and send it back!!

Another Davis Pro user. Love the internet connection. Read from my iPhone, iPad app, web link, and I feed into wunderground, which has my historical data available for anyone interested. My wife credit her iPhone constantly to check wx at our best friends or in town. I've only had to replace console batteries.

I'm using the Davis Vantage Pro2. The wireless signal has no problems getting to the console inside my metal pole barn. A bit pricey but when I was looking into buying it what I kept seeing over and over was that the less expensive units would work fine for a while and then just die. The Davis units seem to be more reliable. Guess I'll find out in a year or two.

geez....nobody wants to do it manually?....temp/humidity using dual thermometers - 1 dry 1 wet.....manual 4" rain gauge.....nothing to break and it doesn't cost as much.

If you are offering to stand around on my property for a flat fee of $500 and give me updates every 15 minutes along with current, weekly, monthly and yearly averages of temp, rain, humidity and wind speed let me know. :) You'll also need to keep a web page updated with all this info so that I can check conditions when I'm 150 miles away.

Given your ranch logo there is something a bit ironic in your post.
