Is there anyone who enjoys entering a website looking for something(not mentioning any names) and having music come blasting out of the speakers? I've cut down on one popular site just because of the nuisance of digging out the speaker and killing the volume control.
regards

That is something that really irritates me. My internet connection is so slow, it takes several minutes to load the music and the page. If I had a broadband connection, it would still annoy me to have to listen to it.

I can't stand the music either. Half the time it gives you a heart attack they have it set to play so loud.

Personally, I don't like music or background audio on any websites or pages. It just causes problems on the page technically, and then it is annoying to have it play. So I'm with you guys on this one. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I am very much opposed to music, sounds, animations, flashing or anything else that doesn't actually add value to the page. There are many web developers who use these devices simply because they can, not because it makes sense. I wish more sites would stick to the KISS principle.

Anybody who wants to see a fast, attractive website that gets you where you want to be as quickly and conveniently as possible, take a look at TractorByNet.com. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

LOL I have music on my website! Oh well, lots of free vet information too so I guess people tolerate it. Never had any comments on it - yet...

Haven't hear the KISS principle in a while. Hope were talking about the same KISS, Keep It Simmple Stupid. I try to use it it most of the time, forget about it till I get over my head. I actually got taught the KISS by my Automotive Technology instructor at college. He was talking about keeping it simple and basic when diagnosing automotive driveability problems. He did mention KISS would work on just about anything.

You forgot to link TractorByNet.com /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

We really enjoy all the great comments we get concerning lots of aspects of our little website.
Music has indeed been an important factor at the site over three years.
Tractor purchasers (usually their wives) may select and choose their special "favorite tunes" and many have used it a a really nice token or to honor their love ones with special moments and surprises.
Not one buyer yet has asked for a "silent page." But I'd be open to that as well.

Just your information ... and guessing. The Count....
In favor of music and really love it..... 1550
Expressed that it annoys them to have to turn down the volume or click off the music box..... 15
Expressed that it slows down the download and see no value for music.... same 15 as above
Expressed that it slows down the download and write our webmaster to see to speed that process up.. 50

Many have said they leave our site "on line" many hours at their desk "just to hear the tunes" ...
Four have said they used the different page at private parties, turn the volume WIDE OPEN and just GET DOWN at carverequipment.com into the wee hours... Two of those never plan to buy or shop for a tractor ... their friend had referred the site as a place for some good tunes.

At this time...
The music helping us give some shoppers a "lighter side and maybe a little stress relief." I get no less than 10 emails a month expressing that fact. The purchasers choose the tunes at the different pages. We change then from time to time ... just for a little variety. Shoppers and Purchasers feedback has been overwhelming. POSITIVE....

We'll be happy to consider your favorite or special tune also.
This week only ... with or without a tractor order.
Please remember fellows, When we have to get down on our knees and really plea-pray and beg to our lady for permission to order a new tractor... "the right background music" may help us both...

We have to have several days advance notice to get your music playing on the tractor model page you want, so plan ahead.

Love this business!

Have a great weekend -- Ride the Bota - (or order a new Bota).
Enjoy the tunes and be safe.

Steve

ps --- check out the homepage today...
Several of our customers asked for a little extra appeal to thier wife for a new BX......
We are trying as best we can to assist you fellows.. so rest the rest is up to you.

Love your Web site, Steve, but hate the music. Didn't stop me from buying my L3010 (Clementine) from you, but I gotta tell you, when checking your site from work (where I'm supposed to be crunching numbers), the last thing in the world I need is for music to tell those around me I'm goofing off!

Steve -

I certainly meant no disrespect to anyone who has chosen to include music on their site. Just expressing a personal preference. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

The Carver Equipment website is one of the most informative and helpful websites I have seen. I would (and have) recommended it to anyone who is shopping for compact tractors and/or related attachments. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
