I've been on the fence about buying a 20V Dewalt but just found a deal at Home Depot for the brushless version with a 5AH battery for a buck and a half so I pulled the trigger.

Be aware they sell these with brushless and brush type motors when you are shopping

Just picked up my 20V Dewalt. Snapped my grease gun battery in to give it a try. Not super balanced feeling but will probably be better with the 5 AH battery. Variable speed switch feels more like an on off switch but I think the low speed wide open should be about right for most grass trimming.

I bought the 20 volt Dewalt trimmer 2 years ago, and it immediately surpassed my expectations. Not long after that, I got the cordless chainsaw, which I use mostly for orchard trimming, and the blower.
Those three Dewalts are the first tools I reach for when working around the house.

They just came out with a 20 volt Tree trimmer. Have been waiting on one of these. Will get it Friday. 8" blade and the pole extends out to 15 feet.

I will probably switch to battery when I am wheelchair bound. Until then I will contribute to the green cause by recycling dinosaurs. :shocked:

Ha ha... but you might be a changed man if you try a decent battery op tool. I thought same as you before I caved.

Brushless. Brushes wear out and give some friction, which requires battery power to overcome. I've a battery powered toothbrush that is apparently brushless. Battery has NEVER gone dead on it. My new waterpic is apparently brushless, too. Battery charge goes on forever but I have to replace the liquid in it about every 3rd use.
