Yeah I can go along with the salt idea. After everycrawfish boil we have I pour the leftover salty water around culverts and places that weeds or grass need to be killed. Its kinda hard lugging around a 100qt pot of hot salty water to kill weeds.:D I need to be a little more exacting with the stuff, cause I have killed alot of stuff I didnt want to. How much does this glyphosate stuff run? Is it alot cheaper than Round up?

I indeed do have a brush burner. I think that would damage surrounding grass, but I guess there's going to be a tradeoff no matter what I do.

If your worried about the after effects you might try vinegar with a little dish soap it in. It works well on grassy type plants but I don't know about poison oak. It is only 1.00 a gallon at restaurant suppliers and is completly bio degradable.

DO NOT BURN POISON IVY.
As to a organic weed killer, there is a horticultural vinegar that should kill it as well as stuff called Burn Out (mostly clove oil) made by St. Gabriel Laboratories that should be able to kill it as well.
As to the cost of generic, I buy a prodict called Credit Extra made by NuFarm in concentrate that would make 128 gallons of useable product for a lot less thah roundup and it is just as effictive.

It probably costs me more, but I put a heck of a concoction together. Roundup and BrushbGone together. Kills the weeds and the blasted poison oak I am so allergic too. I use generic roundup when I can, but is there a generic BRushbGone?

Weeds are generally a sign that your ph or other soil components are out of wack relative to what's optimal for grass. In the case of weeds growing through gravel.....it's 'cause they can and will. Any glyphosate will take care of that. Eraser is about half the cost of Roundup and it works the same.

Agri Star (among others) makes generic versions of most popular weed killers and they cost about half of the brand name. In many cases though you still need a license to buy them. Tractor Supply sells Pasture Pro (2,4,D) by the quart and you can buy it without a license (but you need a license to buy a 2 1/2 gal. jug). There aren't any grazing restrictions for 2,4,D so you don't have to worry about your pets. My barn cats and dog go in my fields after I spray with no ill effects that I've ever seen.

If you keep your soil in balance and mowed you'll have a lot less weeds.

Brush be gone is .7% Triethylamine Salt and 99.3% inert ingredients (Water). Weed-be-gone that you buy at Walmart is basically 1% 2-4-D and 99% inert ingredients (Water).

Go to your local co-op and they can make recommendations. I bought 1/2 gallon of 2-4-D (50%) at the co-op several 4 years ago for $15.00. You only mix 1 teaspoon per gallon of water, because of the strength. I still have some of that left. When you buy "Weed be gone" or "Round up" all your paying for is the name. Just like Generic vs. Name brand drugs. When the patent runs out the price goes down.

2-4-D It that what I would ask for at the Co-Op? They would know what I am looking for? Sounds more like Im looking for.......Although anything than paying out the nose for round up is great.....No one has a concoction they mix up? Ive done the diesel fuel spray, but not not since it's so expensive, the only place i put diesel is in the Kubota.
