Weightlifting plates welded on a box blade?

Used two front weights in rear of my box blade. The weight hook fits over the braces within the box blade. Welded a angle steel piece to hold the bottom of the weight. Bungy cords keep the weights tight against the back of the box.
Reason for the weights - more weight for the fel loads.

I am not sure where Trescott Maine is, nor does Mapquest.com for that matter, but if you are anywhere near Winterport, I would be more than happy to do any welding you need on your boxblade. Just bring it on over.

A boxblade has it’s limits. Up here with our rocks, I have found you can break up the soil but you need to go back and get the rocks out. A FEL with a tooth bar seems to work well. Or a BH for the really biguns. Then you can go back with the blade and finish the job. I have had good luck clearing out some really BIG rocks from my field with this combo. It just takes some practice.

The scarifiers definitely need to be down but starting out shallow and going progressively deeper with each pass seems to work the best.

I added weight to my 4 footer. I found a slab of steel at the scrapyard a couple years ago. Added it to the very back wall , outside the box. It added about 320 pounds way back there where it does me the most good for front end loader work. Also makes the box blade more effective, especially if you have a bit of momentum, and it also pushes it into the ground better.
