Speaking of westerns. . . .
Until I was about 12 years old, I believed all the westerns where one shot from a .45 would dispatch a snake to critter heaven. I even heard people who said that a rattler could strike so fast that it would try to bite the hot bullet coming toward it. That's why all the westerns showed the snake with its head blown off. Such balderdash!

I read somewhere that untrained person hits faster with the fist than rattlesnake attacks. I would believe that, it is a matter of weight and velocity.

But I would never try it at home
