Where to buy and whats a good price? (im in Alberta)

Today I bought 1/0gauge wire at 3.49/ft, 60ft came to 210$. Seems really high. 2/0gauge was 4.50/ft

I went looking for winch wire and new welding cables but didnt need the welding cables bad enough to pay 3.49 for 200ft.

Where do the pros buy? and is there a better deal out there?

It seems most rolls come in 250ft. so if the deal was good that would do fine.

And 1/0 gauge should be large enough for most welding with a big 40? true?
even on a 100ft run?

Get 100ft for what I paid for 60, that would be a better price, but before I knew I needed cable I knew I didnt want to pay to ship it. Maybe i will rethink it and call them.

Free shipping to the any of the states, but getting it accross border has proven to much for me in the past.

Thanks for the link JJ

You know it well. LOL I can tell some PA employees what pages items are on. :)

I will look into northern metallic. edit: (tough site to navigate and they dont seem to have the welding cable section up Ill call later I guess) I also talked to another guy who said that many Oilfield weldors are required to change equiptment (incl cables) at set intervals. and many will sell used cables in good shape for whatever $$'s they can get.
But I have never met or even heard of these Weldors? Fact or fiction?

WW - I would say fiction but I have been wrong before. When I was running materials in mining out there we replaced welding cables when the guys did stupid things with them (like dragging them across a hot weld they just completed) or they had obvious safety issues -- things may have changed:eek:
