Welding with jumper cables and batteries

"I have thought about experimenting with 6 volt batteries, so I could get 18v, 24v, 30v, etc. But, I've never really had a reason to try it"

Wonder how an electric golf cart could work as a portable welder?

There used to be a 12 volt arc welding kit.........the electrode holder had a coil in it...the electrode used to "vibrate" and the inductance in the electrode holder generated the striking voltage..........weld used to look like pigeon droppings but it worked in a limited sense.
You video is certainly an improvement

My dad used to do this back in the 60's. He used 3 12V batteries but he also used a 10' piece of heavy steel fence wire and a ajustable clamp on the wire to control amperage. Wire was just a large resistor.
The batteries loose their charge pretty fast so you don't have much duty cycle.
