Sounds like water supply is not up to pump draw. I got my new bore pump back in and going last night. Boy, did I miss that water. Our boreman said that he sometimes has to put restricters in the line to keep pump pressure up and limit the flow of water. You could try that. I fitted a Franklin pump assy this time. My high pressure is 65 psi and low is 45 psi.

Thanks. At this point I will try about anything. Are these restrictors between the pump and the well head or the well head to the tank?

Yes. Check that you have 220v at the pressure switch/relay output to the pump. Some 220v pumps can run at 115v but with little output.

Have you checked the electrical feed? Did you adjust the pressure switch anywhere in this chain of events?

Did you change the 1/4" standoff that the pressure switch threads onto? These will corrode down to nothing, and then a little bit of particulate will plug it completely. Had this happen to me when I changed my pump and tank this fall.

You should also drop a flashlight on a line down to the slip joint in the casing and watch for leaks as the pump is cycling.

Don't forget you have to shock the well after all of this work.

Thanks guys. Yes I have adjusted pressures all over the place in the last week. What scares me is that the pump is supply 50 psi at startup but as the water in the house runs and the pressure drops the pump kicks on and we get nothing at the tank or the spiket at the well head. I would thing we would still have contant pressure at the head wouldn't we??

1/4' standoff is the pipe that the reg screws on to? If so no I did not change it but I did pull it off, clean the threads and reseal it. I did not see any obstructions.

Wade at tis point sounds like you either have a well problem or a pump problem. did the guy who came to help check make sure you had the correct amount of power going to the pump and switch, if so then sounds like your are pumping the water out faster than it's comming in to the well. at this point i would call a someone in the area who has good reputation and can help fix your problem. the restricter in the line might be what you need if supply is down. sorry couldn't be of more help

Thanks. He did not have his meter last night. We just set the switch and observed the condition. He is coming over today with his meter to check all of that stuff. Go figure it snowed in SC yesterday for the first time in 5 years@@

YEP!!! I went back out and turned the breaker on and instantly have 50psi!!! I am betting now that we will have water for the toilets, sinks and most likely 1 shower in the morning before it crashes again.....
Instantly having 50psi means you have your air precharge set at 50. I thot you said 40?

... But, it sounds like there is another issue. From your description of water delivery over time it suggests you are pumping your well "dry". When this happens there should be a telltale sign that you havent mentioned. -- Some air should be pumped in the form of tiny bubbles. These stay in the water for awhile, gradually turning into bigger ones. While they are tiny they make water run into a clear glass appear cloudy white initially - then clear up as the bubbles float out. Are you ever seeing this?

We just had a 30 year old jet pump replaced with a new submersible system. For years the old jet pump was not able to keep up with the water usage so we had to turn down the inline valve we had between the well system and the house. If you have a valve inline between the well and house try opening it about a 1/4 -1/2 turn then run the water in the house. It will reduce volume but may keep pressure so you at least have water.
