Although I believe my friend Fred might have slightly overstated this topic, I'll agree with him that this will be a large change for you. Hydro tractors simply react to commands differently. But since you already have a love/desire for HST hopefully this will be accepted quickly. There's a lot of difference in grasses so I can't speculate on the new tractor's abilities with the brush cutter.

All that aside. Someone is going to get a really nice M6800. That tractor will bring a premium price and will be worth every penny!!!!!

Congrats on your new tractor and the pics!!!!!

Seems like a lot of mower for that Grand L. I'd think an 8-footer would work it pretty hard. All depends upon type of grass and ground speed, though.

I'd rather go slow and wide than fast and narrow when it's all said and done...

Yeah, I'm not mowing CRP or anything like that. I keep my stuff clipped and fairly manicured so it should handle the 12 foot mower fine. I know there was concern about putting that 15 footer behind my M6800, but for what I do it handled it beautifully. When I got into mature thick foxtail and/or Johnson Grass I had to slow down.

You are right, that M6800 is a very nice and sought after tractor. You can't get them like that anymore. Someone will also get a very very nice Landpride 15 foot batwing along with it if they want. I am tempted to keep it, but there is no need. And if I need the 62 horsepower that I am loosing by trading in the M6800, I have a very stout well running smooth 43 year old International Harvester 674 sitting in the barn right next to the 5740.

And I appreciate Mr. Fred praying for me... and if it is a mistake...I have decided I am not going to fret, I will just trade back for something different. But I think my setup of a BX23s, Grand L 5740 with Cab, and IH 674 I should be in pretty good shape for my tasks....and now even better shape since the 5740 has SSQA couplers and I can take it places.

I have had my L5740 for 3 or 4 years now and I really like it too. I also bought a L6060 last fall, but I haven't really used it much yet.

I assume that your 16' trailer is heavy duty. I would not haul my L5740 on either of my 16' trailers. And one of mine is pretty heavy duty.

I haul mine on either a 28' gooseneck, or as of last week, I bought a 20' heavy duty trailer too.

If you don't mind me asking, what was the deal? How much did you have to give? Or was it an even trade?

How much does the 5740 with cab and loader weigh? It might be too much. I would only need to tow it 12 miles at low speeds. It has brakes on both axles and all 4 tires and I have a 2500 duramax.....but still, not worth getting hurt over or even worse me hurting someone else.

The trade was fairly even. This tractor I am getting has 1/2 the hours and is right at 10 years newer.

Your 5740 will handle your light weight 12' Land Pride BW in most conditions but ground speed will be low. Don't expect to do much with the 10' disc, though.

Keep your fuel cans handy. You will use lots of fuel.

According to Tractordata.com, it weighs about 4200 lbs with cab, and I assume that is without the loader. My guess is the loader would add about 1000 lbs or so. And if your tires are loaded, that's probably another 1000 lbs or so. Here is the link to Tractordata info. TractorData.com Kubota L574 tractor dimensions information

Well then, that will be too much weight. Tires are loaded. So we are looking at 7 thousand pounds?

Per Kubota specs, the L5740 HSTC with cab weighs 4,233 Lbs., sans FEL and Ballast.

The RC2512 Land Pride weighs 2,540 Lbs. Tongue weight is 793 Lbs.

It will be a chore for the 5740 but if your ground is not steep, you mow regularly and do not expect high ground speed, you'll be OK. First cutting in the spring will be toughest.

Yep, sounds like a perfect mix to me.
