What is this "Johns web page" of which you speak?
Also, I REALLY put diesel into the gearbox to flush it?
I'll double check the fluids and grease points before I take it for a spin around the neighborhood.
This is my first tractor and diesel engine...please be patient...
Hey Joe,
You are doing good Joe.
One of the most important places to make sure that you have oil, is the creeper gear Box Reservoir. On some of the tractors, the oil doesn't flow freely to that reservoir, and you have to take the cover off, to make absolutely sure that there is oil, in that reservoir. You can also check to see if oil is in the Creeper Gear Box, by loosening up the drain plug and see if oil is draining out, but the best way, is to take the cover off. It is only a few bolts. If you are careful, you will be able to reuse the old gasket, it you are very careful, not to tear it. If you need a new Gasket, you can either make one out of GAsket material at any auto parts store, or you can order a new gasket from JinmaParts.com.
Yes it is recommended that you flush with either kersosene or diesel fuel at the appropriate time. I used diesel fuel. GregG, says Kersosene is better though. The reason for flushing is to clear away, any metal shavings that may be clumped up in passages and in close proximity to any bearings or gears.
