Glad it all worked out - hopefully you will get clear water eventually - too bad the driller didn't clear it when drilling. It should clear within a few days or week of pumping

The other question for the driller is how many feet of casing did they install? Most of the time its 20-40 feet to bedrock or a shale layer so surface water and dirt don't enter the well from above.

Here's how it turned it out today.....Went from brown to crystal clear then just a little cloudy. I want the crystal clear back! I guess it hit a clear pocket for a few mins, its not near as bad but not clear like earlier.

I'll keep running it daily and hopefully soon it will just stay clear.

Thanks again for all the help!!

240 volts X30 amps=7200 watts. Indeed, most 7000 watt or so generators have 30 amp 4 wire twist lock receptacles.

Ratings are for temporary power. Continuous power has to be derated 20%, so a 30 amp plug is only good for 24 amps continuous. If the generator is rated for 7000 peak watts but only 5500 watts continuous, a 30 amp plug would be fine, but it's not a 7000 watt generator, it's a 5500 watt generator. I have never seen a 7000 watt generator (~10,000 watts peak) with only a 30 amp 240v. receptacle.

You are getting there.

Just for a comparison.....in my area it is common for the driller to run a hose like that overnight.
They finish the well, turn on the hose then return the next day to collect the water sample for the health department.
And to make sure the inspector passed it so they can close the permit.

It takes a while to flush out all the drilling debris.

go to Home Depot. The shelves are full of 7,000 watt, 8,500 watt peak gensets with 30 amp recepticles. If it was 10,000 watt running with 12,000 peak
they have 50 amp range style Receptacle.wen-portable-generators-56877-64_1000.jpgduromax-portable-generators-xp8500e-64_1000.jpgportable-generators-5802-44_1000.jpg

Figure out what you want to run if the power goes out (when you are living in your new house) and make sure your electrician installs a "transfer switch panel next to your main panel, and a generator plug outside where you want to run the proper sized generator.

When I have to use the generator, it runs the well pump; refrigerator; freezer; some lights/plugs in the bathroom, kitchen, master bedroom, and great room, all of these circuit breakers are in the transfer switch panel.

I also have a Reliance Meter Box right next to the transfer switch panel that has two wattage meters (each meter goes to 3750 watts at 125 volts +-) and the goal is to "balance out" each 125 +- volt wire when the generator is connected and running.

You do not want all of your heavy hitters drawing most of the watts on one leg and then just a few 100 watt light bulbs drawing watts on the other leg.

Hope this helps you to think about what is important to you to run with a generator when the power goes out.

I have a neighbor that when the power went out he had to fill water in a 5 gallon bucket from his next door neighbors frost free hydrant so he can fill his toilet tank and flush, only because when he was building his house he saved a little money by not having his well pump connected to his "automatic whole house generator".

The money he saved by not connecting the well pump house 200 feet to the whole house generator at the house, he spent on a small generator to run his well pump and it's not automatic when the power goes out.
