Congrats on the new M59, and welcome to the Orange Society, your secret handshake booklet is in the mail..;)

I went through some of the dealership BS when I was shopping for a tractor, ended up going with a very local (5 minute drive) dealer that I had heard mixed reviews on. The thing is, everybody is different, has different expectations and senses of responsibility.

As it turned out, I got a good price on the tractor and attachment (rotary cutter) I bought from them. Since then parts and warranty service has been very good, and we've built a good business relationship in my opinion. They don't kiss my a** when I walk in the door, and I don't kiss theirs. Neither of us expect that, and things are as you would rightly expect them to be.

I can get a little better price on odds and ends if I want to shop around, but they're in business to make money, and they're convenient to deal with.

Congratulations! We got our M59 a few years back....right before the 2008 financial meltdown in fact, and if we had waited just a month we probably could have saved a bunch. But it has been great to have. And yes, it was my wife who talked me into it.

I also had trouble with the color -(still do!) - as I have long been one of the vintage JD guys and I like just about everything about their tractors and the company. I tried for months to buy from JD - in fact I had never even stopped by a Kubota dealer. My short list included Case, Ford, and Massey...but not Kubota. But I came to realize that none of them had anything to compare with the M59. And every JD combination that I tried to put together to match the M59's ability didn't work out so well for one reason or another.

It's not perfect. I had one cylinder go wrong and Kubota replaced it. If you look at the extremely long M59 thread you will see mods that people have made. Be SURE to get the BH thumb. My dealer said that getting them to throw the extended warranty into the deal cuts into the dealer's profit, but doesn't cost him anything. Just takes some of the gravy off the table.

It's a real nice tractor and rugged. I had my doubts, but you'll like it.
