Hey, wait a minute; I drink Tropicana OJ. It's all orange! Is it no good too?!:confused2::eek:

Hey, the President's orange too; does this mean he's no good too?!
Where's it end?!....

Better to be safe than sorry, I threw out all the dial soap in the house along with all the cheese this morning.

Interesting thread. I had an LGT2554 Husqvarna. It had 500 hrs. on it when I bought it used, mowed about 2 acres a week with it for 2 1/2 yrs. and had zero (0!) problems with it. It was a big box store sale originally. The transmission would get slow when it heated up but always worked. It snapped a rear axle earlier this year at just over 600 hrs, but I blame Tuff Torq for that flaw (had the infamous K46 in it). I got rid of it as soon as I could as I don't have time to deal with it and didn't want to put any more money in it. Wife hated to see it go as it was a good mower and cut down on the mowing time from the older 46" deck MTD we were using. I still have a Husqvarna string trim push mower that has been also very good, has a good B&S engine. My point is to say that this seems to be a dealer-customer issue, not a product one per se, and frankly the attitude I'm seeing here from the OP might be part of the problem, hard to say though without similar input from the dealer. There are people who don't know how to deal effectively with other people, customers and dealers both!

`Gotta say my 1542 is 15 years now and I have replaced the battery once and the spindle bearings (and a few blades of course) I remember changing the oil once........
It is a great machine.

Reviews also say the 1542 is a 'good' mower, although not very powerful. My guess is that the stated 15hp back in '02 is a true horsepower rating rather than the bogey numbers they throw out these days.

With something one oil change on that Kawi motor in 15 years, it MIGHT be time to consider splurging and give it a fresh oil change? Heck... It might go another 15 years - or it may blow up tomorrow with new oil in it!

Yep, I love my Kwakka motor. I should treat it better. Now I feel bad. Anyway, it has never used any oil and it is still clean-ish. Need to do a filter as well. I forgot to mention, although the tyres are original, I had to fit tubes last season as they kept leaking. It's been great since.
Today I am towing a 48" lawn sweeper with it picking up all the darn bamboo leaves the wind has thrown around. Makes life easy.
Your comment re 15 HP. Understood, but when we bought it the dealer said, because it is a twin cylinder, they are more like a 17 HP motor.
I have never thought it to be underpowered myself.
As you can see by the Pics, the leaf collector is quite large but is easily handled by the Husky.

I totally agree, you have a very good mower; held up very well. I was comparing the 15hp to an experience that I have had. I had a Snapper 8hp that seemed to have as much hp and my 3 year old Husqvarna 26hp. To be fair though, the Snapper was a 36" cut whereas the Husqvarna is a 52". Big Diff.

Snapper has always built good mowers, but no... I still prefer my larger Husqvarna. It's still not the quality of my 15 year old Husqvarna Rider 155, 15hp. Older built Husqvarna's seem to hold up better than the "new and improved" ones.

Take better care of that old 1542. Give it a good grease job, oil & filter change, and just put it on my tab :) You'll thank me later.

I see a lot of folk are still using solid blades on their mowers. When I first bought mine I had a problem when the blades hit the ground they would slice in and screw up like a propellor. After replacing a few I changed to swing blades and haven't looked back. Easier on the mower if you hit a rock too.

Speaking of dumbazzes not reading...there is no solution needed or required here from the OP. OP is just ranting and that's not what this site is about. If he wants to rant go to BBB and post something there. I love my Husqvarna...has 400 hours on here, runs like new. OP is just trying to get some revenge by turning future and current owners away. When I was a logger all my saws were Husqvarna and never had a single complaint. Wished my Franklin Skidder was just as reliable.

Some dealers do suck...had my share.
