Well water with sulfur taste and smell

If you just plan on watering livestock, try a large watering trough and use a sprayer to fill it. That may be enough aeration to allow the sulfur odor and taste to dissipate.
Years ago we had a sulfur spring on our farm and even with no aeration, the deer and hogs always kept drinking from it.
Since it's just for livestock, check with the extension office and make sure there aren't any harmful effects for them, then try it, a little time invested, no money involved at this point.

I have two watering locations,, one with well water and lot of iron,, to the point you can taste it.. the other is city water with chlorine in it.. the livestock will travel to the back pasture to drink the well water with the iron in it before drinking the city water.. that should tell me something.. lol..same way with my daughter in law.. her horses,, likes the well water and she will take several five gal. bottles with her when she goes to a show because (She says).. they won't drink any other water unless they are to the point dehydration.. So if the cattle with drink it let them.. they are about half smart,, the other half I don't know about.. Lou

Chlorine will dissipate from any open water source in a very short time...tell your cattle. One of the largest contributors to people living longer can be attributed to the chlorination of domestic water supplies. There are a multitude of pathogens and bacteria that could serious affect your health and even death that are eliminated due to chlorine.

Thanks sdkubota,, I worked thirty five years in the Chlorine plants for Dow Chemical Company,, as production supervisor,, I do understand the effects of Chlorine and the benefits,, The point I was trying to make.. was the cattle preferred the well water to city chlorinated water.. Lou
