well water

( I have a 400ft deep water well that is 6 months old. The water smells if I put 1/2 gal bleach down the well it goes away for about 2 weeks then returns. The smell is 3 times worse with the hot water any ideas. Can I use chlorine tablets like in a swimming so it will dissolve slower. )

I chlorinate my well ("bomb it") every time the wife and I go on a long trip (days). The morning we leave, we take a 5 gallon bucket, fill it with water and Clorox (1 gallon) then take a garden house, aim down the well pipe and slowly pour the 5 gallon mix into the well pipe wile the hose is running. Take a pool chlorine tester, wait for it to change color, run all the lines in the house (including hot water heater), close up the well cap and come back a week later. Smell is gone, chlorine is gone (it dissipates naturally). We do it ever trip.

Good luck.

I have talked to two different water guys Culligan and royal water treatment. One wants to sell me a 120 gal holding tank with a clorinator the other guy wants to sell me an aerator and a uv light both are about $2500. What do you think? The new bacteria test showed chloriform bacteria .

If you have reducing type bacteria, you can not use aeration or UV.

Another limitation on UV use, dependent on the manufacturer, is no more than 5-7 gpg of hardness in the water; your hardness is 35 gpg. So you'd need a water softener in front of the UV but... UV will not work if you have reducing bacteria so you need disinfectant like chlorine etc..

Both want way more than the equipment you have mentioned them using is worth. For what they are wanting, you could buy the inline pellet chlorinator etc. that I mentioned above, plus a softener.
