According to my spreadsheet it has fallen to Oct 2009 levels. Theoretically, this should indicate that the dollar is gaining value, since they are inversely proportional to each other, but with all the jiggery-pokery that the crooks at the fed have been up to, all bets are off.

Well I tried to find your prediction of a $600 drop but the closest I could find was

Platinum down /silver down / gold 1581. down from yesterday , here it comes ! where will all the gold supporters be when it keeps falling ? the average family has already dumped their gold/ silver just to support their families How far will some of you let it fall before you sell at a loss ? Just a short time ago it was 18-1900. it won't be back there for a long time . Wanna buy some chickens ? winner ,winner chicken dinner !

the little spikes we are seeing are just the largest investors holding the value so they can dump with good profit margin . yes it will drop and faster than you think ,men as a whole are greedy and when the drop starts no one likes to lose ,Will it hit a $1,000 ? I hope so just to watch everyone try to sell before it tanks . yes a shoe box ,NO one needs a bank unless you live on credit or have to finance your life . Live within you're means I laugh every time someone shows off their $50,000.00 new truck or boat they bought (financed to death ) for no other reason than vanity . I buy and sell and have made many deals in my favor just because I had cash dollar bills in my hand and walking around money is $10,000.00 and the shoe box is in the truck. what good is it doing you locked up in some bank vault ? the morning of 911 I ran down to the bank and wanted to cash a $50,000.00 check ,They would only let me cash one for $5,000.00 ! closed my account that week and never used one again .Why should anyone other than yourself need to control you're money ? I guess it's just one more way for the government to watch out (over) for you !

Pardon my french, but 10 grand in a shoebox in a truck is just plain stupid. Not just stupid, but stupid stupid. And even stupidder(pardon my stupid spelling) is telling people on an internet forum that you carry 10 grand in a shoebox in your truck. Its even more stupid than putting it under your mattress, in your freezer, or in mason jars in your back yard. Good grief.

Cash money in your hand is not working for you. You have to have the intelligence to make deals to increase its value. A lot of people do not have that intelligence and shouldn't be made fun of. In your hand, cash is actually losing value on a daily basis due to inflation. Yes, you should have access to enough cash to to get you by for 6 months of expenses (a year is better). Yes, you can go to the bank and get access to your cash to cover your "normal" expenses on a daily basis. No, you shouldn't expect to be able to go to a bank and make a run on it the day of a national tragedy as you did the day of 911. Everyone knows that a bank does not keep enough physical cash on hand to cover the amounts of all of their customers account ballances. That would be a poor idea. I cannot fathom any circumstance where someone would need 50,000 in cash for anything where a cashier's check would not suffice, unless it was of dubious nature that requires the concealment of a paper trail.
