I never knew the 1430 had the tilt seat, I thought that was only on the slope mowers. Sure looks pretty

It doesn't have a tilt seat. They use a lot of the same parts through many models and the dash being one. It is a dummy switch to use for something else (and makes it look cool IMO).

That is where you can put your momentary switch for glow plugs. I would imagine you want them as far up north as you live.

Thanks for the pictures. It looks the same as mine except for the steering wheel and the filter / filter mount look a little different. Tomorrow I'll take a picture of the air hose nozzle I have for blowing out that little radiator, that works really well. Also, I'll take a picture of the kill switch, so you know where it's at when you want to change the hydraulic filter ( Rob's method with the ziplock bag for filter change works excellent.)

On other air cooled diesels (Pisquali and older Deutz with round valve covers) I just used a hand held propane torch and warmed up the cooling fins. I will have to look into the glow plug part number after I see how hard it is to start. On my Steiner 430 max (that I am glad to be rid of) I just put a 100 watt drop light under the hood and covered with a blanket for about 24-48 hours and it would help it get going. They have the same issue with turning the pumps with a cold hyd and engine.
Back to the PT, the engine has a lever on the left side. It looks like it would be for a cable to pull to shut off. I forgot to try it ( I think it shows in the picture just to the left of the lower oil fill cap)

The name of this air gun is Radiator Genie and it works great. It blows air at a high pressure so it drains my air tank quick. I also have a picture of a STUBBY 9/16" wrench, which is what I found to work out the best for taking that cap off the piston pump for getting the air out of the system. Then how I done the glow plugs on mine; thought it might give you or others some ideas, because winter is on its way. I took power from that Ford auxiliary solenoid, to the fuse box, up to the momentary switch on the instrument panel. Then from there just the ordinary way getting the momentary switch connected to that relay switch in the picture.

Your info should be placed in some kind of "sticky" thread where we all can look to easily find important stuff. I haven't had good luck with the search feature, it seems to bring up everything that isn't even related. Do you have part numbers for the glow plugs and where did you buy? Are they self regulating or is it critical to count off the seconds?
Pic 3 must be the plug to kill the electric run switch? I think the lever next to the lower fill cap does the same, especially in a emergency, keep it in mind if the electrical system dies and you can't shut off the engine.
I have an antique version of the Radiator Geni from the 50's. That 2-bolt side cover should come off when you blow it out to get rid of the debris, otherwise it might go right back up when you start it. How many hours did you wait for the 1st engine oil change?

I learned something new, that is the shut off switch for the engine you are talking about. It's right there in the Deutz manual; thanks. I'll get the numbers off of those glow plugs for ya. There are several Deutz retail/repair shops around here, because this is a large farming region where I live, so these engines are used allot. They are the manual type where you need to count the seconds. Someone told me that using the plugs for 30 seconds is okay, but mine works fine if I hold it for 15 seconds. The engine starts in our really cold weather down here without the plugs, but it smokes allot at first and runs on one cylinder for a moment or two.
That plug I was pointing to kills the power to the fuel solenoid, which is that loud click you hear when you first turn the key on, but from now on I'll use that lever you were telling me about.
That air gun from the 50's is probably a much better quality than this thing, haha! It works well though.

Was the Steiner 430 Max the diesel or gas model? I never heard much good about the 21hp diesel models, especially for them not having enough power.

It had the Kubota diesel (I think 922? or something close). I don't push my tractors hard, so it had good power for me. It seemed to run hot when mowing a big field. The Deutz in the 1430 seems real economical. This is day 3 of using it and still has 1/2 tank on gauge. My PT180 needed fuel every day but that was using the mower which maybe has higher fuel consumption then using the grapple bucket. I will be better able to compare when I get my Titan hydraulic drive flail delivered.
