kiotiken,

That little dog is growing like a weed! Settling in with a routine of behavior like the other dogs. Up in the morning and needs some exercise. Breakfast. Then some time with us to connect. Chew a few things up. A nap. Romp around with the other dogs, etc. She's not the Alpha dog at this point.

Here's a few more pictures of the Mustangs I took recently up in the mountains. It's always a beautiful find. Riding along, come up over a rise and find them. So natural and free. Absolutely in their element. The Stallion snorts and puts himself between us and his family, the colt stands near mom. They'll let us get pretty close and then wander off.

Wow, those mustangs look so fat and healthy! I am surprised that they do so well on the sparse vegetation.

They can choose a variety of vegetation from damp grass to dry sagebrush. This particular area seems to be just right.

I marvel at them getting through the winter with snow at 8,500-9,000' where we see them most.

They do seem well fed.

Great!
That looks like the polar opposite of what we have here, yet we still have coyotes, lots of em.

Makes me thirsty

I put over 40 miles on my quad yesterday up in these mountains. My neighbor and I were looking for a trail we thought existed but couldn't find. Finally found our way around the head of a canyon at about 9,000' and were able to complete a loop.

Lots of old mines and a few relics.

On the western side of the Pine Nut Mountains there is much more growth and little creeks trickling along, Aspen groves, grass, birds, pinion pines and desert peach. Beautiful.

No horses seen this trip.

It's so nice to get up in the morning and head out from home on the quad. Take a sweater, some water, a snack, my phone or GPS, my 686+ 357, a full tank of gas and a few maps.

Then I had to drive about 250 miles back to the Bay Area for work the next day. Brought the whole fam damily including Sandy! Leave the mountains, the house project, dirt, guns and fun behind so I can act like a Bay Area resident once again. It's getting harder to leave my beloved Nevada and come back here.

John at least you are getting closer to having your place in the mountains done, before long you won't have make that drive back. Bei Bei and Sandy look content to look out the window and take in the sights.
Beautiful country up there for sure.
