Ok ... I went to connect the backhoe to my Kubota BX22 since there is no snow in the forcast and have no need for the rear blade. I go and backup to the hoe and shut off the tractor. I try to connect the lines from the hoe to the tractor and tractor to the hoe and they won't connect. I figure there is too much pressure in the lines so I try to bleed some out by putting a small screwdriver in the end of the hydrolic line fitting and moving the joysticks around *wearing saftey glasses*. It wouldn't bleed so I try to connect them again. Well now I look at the end of the hydrolic line (the long one from the hoe) and that little pin inside is completely broke off. I have no way to get the hoe on my trailer so the dealer is gonna have to come fix it on site. How much is this stupid mistake going to costs me :)

I had one of the backhoe connectors go on mine at the 10 hour mark. It leaked badly the first time I put the backhoe on. According to the dealer I must have overstretched it and damaged the o-ring. They came out to my house (1/2 hour drive) and changed the coupler in 5 minutes. Took him longer to write it up than change it.

Was told the coupler costs about $20 and the service charge (including mileage) would have been $75.

I also could have gone there and swapped the connector with the parts guy. Problem was I could NOT get the connector off....and I didn't want to snap the fitting and ruin the hose that threads up through the hoe to the control block. The tech that came out had two wrenches on the fitting and two foot long pieces of pipe for leverage.

They ended up warrantying (sp?) the whole thing. Made me very happy.

While you're at it, also make sure you check the bolts securing the steering piston to the frame; mine were ready to fall out and drop the piston.

OK I guess I can live with under $100 :) If they want to warranty it that is fine with me but I know me and the screwdriver had something to do with it. What is the proper way to release pressure on the backhoe hydrolics if it will not connect? Anyone?

Funny you asked that. I asked the tech the same question. He said that the pressure lock won't occur on the backhoe because you haven't made the connection to the spool valve yet. So, if the tractor is shut off, the pressure bleeds back to the pump immediately.

This is NOT the case when you disconnect the FEL but leave the spool attached. That connection is beyond the spool requiring you to move the control lever in all directions to release the pressure.

Hope this helps.

Hi Chris,

Why don't you just "unscrew" the broken quick disconnect fitting and hand carry-it to the dealer for replacement/repair...? /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Ok I went to the dealer this morning and inquired about a new "part # 90" coupling. The parts guy told me oh. I've never seen one of those break and then told me the damage would be around $30 for the part. Then the owner came out and asked what I needed. I told him and he said well ok how much is it and the parts guy said $30. The owner wanted me to take the female connector off the backhoe and the male connector off the tractor so he could retrofit the BX with a generic brand one for a little less then $20. I came home today and unscrewed (thanks!!) the broken one and told him to go ahead and order (can you believe they don't stock couplings?) the $30 one. I rather have one meant for the tractor. Sorry for the long post. Oh he said warranty probably won't cover this part but he will put it through to see if he can get the $30 back to me. Thanks for all of your help guys!

I had the same connector leak on me with less than 30 hrs on the unit. I brought it to the closest dealer to me( not where I bought it) and they repaired it under the warranty in a few minutes. They also commented that this was the first time they had this problem. I am guessing that the o-ring was at fault when it was installed.
