Re: Were is the snow.....

Well, Bird, I had to open my "trap" and look what happened!/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif/w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif Coop electric power went off last night at 2:30 A.M. while freezing rain and sleep were coming down in sheets. I got out my kerosene heater and had some heat, but the power didn't go back on until 8:30 A.M. and I couldn't even make my morning coffee until then. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif There was such a load on power that the measured voltage at my outlets was 98 VAC at first and it slowly went up to 110 VAC by mid-morning. I was planning to finish a retainer wall today, but that will just have to wait. BRRR! I'm glad I didn't have a bet with you because I would have lost. However, the taste of crow is something I'm used to./w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Now that would be an intolerable disaster. That's the reason I have a propane tank and burner out in the shop for emergencies; got to have that coffee in the morning./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif I don't know what happened, but our power went off yesterday afternoon shortly after 4:30 p.m., but was only off for about 15 minutes, then flickered a half dozen times. We haven't seen any rain to amount to anything, and no sleet or snow, but did have mist most of the day yesterday and just enough of a sprinkle last night to have a little sheet of ice on the car and on the windows on the north side of the house this morning. Our low was 21 this morning, the high has been 27, and it's headed back down now. Supposed to get cold tonight./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif And I haven't been out the door today; let my wife go get the newspaper and mail./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

"...while freezing rain and sleep were coming down in sheets..."

Yeah, you gotta watch out for that falling sleep - the sandmand can really getcha. He doesn't helo with the snow, either. Everything all recovered there? It was sunny and 60 here in Georgia today, but it was a bit windy. On another note, what constitutes a fun spring day in Georgia? Doing your 50 hours service on your still-almost-new TC35D, that's what! I had a blast today, and it only took about 4 hours, Hardest part was getting the hydraulic fluid into the transmission/hydraulic resevior. Other than that, it was a piece of cake.

Oh yeah, anyone know how to get the main hydraulic filter out without pulling the right rear wheel? That was a tight fit!

Re: Were is the snow.....

So that's why I had such a hard time getting out of bed./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Actually, for the last two weekends, I have been trying to get a small retainer wall finished. I want to build a carport for my tractors, but I have to level off a spot and keep it from washing away before I can build anything. The last two workweeks have been perfect and then on the weekend, the weather goes to #@!&. Yesterday, I was able to get the wall nearly finished. The beams I am using are 6x6 cut from old telephone poles. There is a sawmill about 5 miles from me that sells these for $1.25 per ft. I bought 300 ft for my wall and since the beams are perfectly square, they fit together nicely. A picture is attached.

Oh yes...I have 215 hr on my TC45D. It sure is handy for lifting the beams and putting them in place. It saves my old back. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif My tractor is one year old and it has made my work a lot more pleasant than I ever thought possible. I know you are enjoying yours too.
