Wife and I jumped in the car and decided to about a week long road trip down the coast. We are having a little heat wave we thought the ocean would be good and also get away from the smoke. Got to Seaside OR last evening and enjoyed the beach sunset. A little bit of smoke helped.

After dark strong winds picked up from the east (not common here) and blew in heavy smoke. Our hotel lost power for several hours and now this morning we a socked in with heavy smog.
Since we have no hard plans or reservations, we are trying to figure out whether to continue down the coast or go elsewhere but it doesn't appear we can escape the smoke for 100s if not a thousand miles.
