20 major fires burning in California, with nearly 4 million acres incinerated so far, well past the previous record year of 1.54 million acres scorched.
Statewide, fires have consumed a record 3.9 million acres,
nearly 4% of the state's land mass. 30 people have died in the California wildfires and 7,200 structures have been destroyed.

Cal Fire said they were pushing as many resources as possible to the Glass Fire, but aircraft and ground crews were spread thin.
The record fire season has created an all hands on deck environment, which now includes 2,200 military personnel helping fight, map and assess damage in fire areas, said General David Baldwin, of the Army National Guard. We're in this fight from the ground, to the air and even using space-based assets for our airmen in the Air National Guard that are part of the new Space Force
Dry conditions continued to fuel wildfires in Northern California where the
state's largest-ever blaze, the August Complex in Mendocino County,
continued to grow, charring close to a million acres. ... 47% contained.
