Buying Advice West Coast Yanmar reconditioned dealer

Hi folks-

Who can give me a good recommendation on a Yanmar reconditioned dealer on the West Coast (central Cal)? Not interested in Vietnamese recons.

There is 'Best Used Tractor' but their website is so full of hype bull**** that I kind of shy away from them- but maybe I shouldn't.

Fredericks in Alabama seems to have a good reputation, but I assume that shipping to the West Coast would be too expensive.

There aren't any.

Ernie's up by Portland is the closest match to what you want. And Buck (EFC) several hours north of that. I don't know if you can talk either into selling outside their area.

I suggest watch Craigslist, Ebay, and the equipment-trader type listings. But Buyer Beware.

I bought my first Yanmar from a farmer in West Sacramento, and the little one from a guy way up in Susanville. (300 miles from my orchard north of San Francisco). Both are American-version Yanmars. Both showed a lot of neglect, but mostly limited to appearance. My 'renovation' was mostly tightening bolts (and replacing a few missing ones), a major service (all fluids etc), and minor stuff like replacing headlights and a few loader hoses. Reliability is great now but both still look like heck.

Last I heard there were VN-reconditioned dealers in Coarsegold and Los Molinos but my information is a little out of date. I've never heard anything, positive or negative, about either. And there was a big VN importer/wholesaler in North Highlands that folded a few years ago. They were excellent in supporting their warranty and it buried them - the quality of their supply was too uneven.

What do you think about 'Best Used Tractors' out of Oregon? Apparently they are marketers for Fredricks in Alabama.

If you are going to Oregon, I vote for Tractor Ernie. I am in Illinois and have dealt with him several times. He is a staight shooter. We did deals "on a handshake". He always did what he said he would.

Ernie is a good guy, no question about that. The advice he posts on here is excellent and his customers up there in the Northwest all love him.

But back when times were better he responded to me that I was too far away, he preferred to sell tractors only in his region where his legendary service could be provided.

There's a guy out of Hoquiam, Washington that sells Japan imports. He has a couple hundred.....interesting place to visit even if you don't buy. Look on Craigslist under Seattle. He's in Hoquiam....name is Ray. He always has a few listed. Another guy that sells Yanmars is Gorilla Tractor in Puyallup, washington. Heard very good things about this outfit.....I can tell you they were very helpful on a problem I was having with my 186D.....they didn't know me but gave lots of good advice. Good luck. Both these guys are about 3 hrs. from Portland.

Seems amazing that there are none in Ca, since this is the highest population state and a major ag state. Oh well

hey jeff i got one of those plastic black n decker drills with the bad bering in the shaft, it makes horrible noises everyso often and has a little wobble in the chuck, but at the $20 or so it cost i will run it till it explodes or locks down.

Just another member that can't say enough good things about Ernie. He is local dealer for me but I was very fortunate in finding him.

Have had my Yanmar for about 5 yrs along with most of the 3-pt equip I bought from Ernie and have yet to have any problems with any of these items.

Thanks for the recommendations guys, we just received a container a week ago and I haven't slept for 3 days, im running out of saliva from drooling on the tractors.
The Koyker loaders just arrived on the truck, nice & shiny

In about 5 days I will have about 16 machines ready for sale, the showroom is packed with Yanmars & Mahindras
