Dealer Western Mass dealers loses Kubota franchise

You must be referring to Midstate Tractor. Seems they sell a lot of JD lawn and garden tractors but more Kubota CUTS than JD CUTS. They usually have about 12 - 15 Kubota's on their lot and only 4-5 JD's. I know the owner told me it really annoys JD that they also carry Kubota. Seems like that's almost illegal. LOL

Yup, Midstate. JD does complain that they sell Kubota too and they're considering dumping JD as opposed to Kubota. Big price difference. And JD takes forever to get new models sent there anyway. They waited ages for the 1026r to finally get there.

We bought our lawnmower there, an x300. Price was decent. But we bought the 2320 from New England Power in Old Saybrook. They had more than 4 tractors to test drive and the room to test drive them.

JD dealrs aren't hard to find here in CT, but we don't have enough New Holland ones IMO. Acorn Thompson is the only close-ish one. And I avoid that place like the plague.

The dealer we deal with said he sold 106 tractors in 6 weeks, that was like a week ago. Right now his lot is looking a little slim. We have a dealer 1/2 mile away but how he stays in business is beyond me. Everyone I know that has bought anything from him buys from him once and that's it, he can't get repeat customers so we drive 25 miles away.

25 is peanuts. a mid-size dealer should have 75-100, a large dealer holds 200+.

Man tractor business must be different in PA. Last fall we took a 8000 mile motorhome trip into 17 states that touched the MS River and on west all the way to the Pacific waters. Based on your experience most tractor dealers in the USA are peanut size.

If you get an area mega dealer with more than 25 tractors you get concerned they may be going out of business or the factory ran out of parking lots which is even of more concern.

Too bad. Sirum heiped me find a rear wheel for my yanmar 276D. They were very helpful. Just rolled by yesterday on my HD. They had some big red tractors sitting there.

Interesting. So I guess they get the runaround from JD. Too bad since that won't help JD sell more tractors, though as you say there are plenty of JD dealers around. A few years back I thought JD might pull their franchise when they were pushing for dealer consolidation in an attempt to get fewer but larger mega-dealers.

Haven't been in there in a while but the only lawn and garden tractors I see there are JD, so they'd have to stock something else - Kubota or maybe Simplicity. If they sell Kubota L&G stuff, I've never seen it. I actually bought my Kubota from Kahn Tractor in No. Franklin. Much larger Kubota dealer and offered me $500 more for my trade-in. They also have a mobile service truck that avoids me having to take my tractor in for minor stuff. Oh, by the way, we live in the same town. Small world.

This is a false rumor. The John Deere line will not be dropped by Midstate Tractor

Hey, I didn't start that rumor but good to hear it's false. Couldn't see Midstate voluntarily giving up the JD L&G line anyway. So should we assume you work there? And welcome to TBN since I see this is your first post.

Mistyblue, forgot to mention Kahn is a New Holland dealer also and they always seem to be pretty well stocked on NH's though not as many units as Kubota. Takes me about 45 minutes to get there so it's not that much farther than Acorn Thompson. I stopped there once for some diesel rated engine oil and wow, something like $8-$10 per quart - don't recall exactly. The few times I've been by, looked like they mostly stocked construction equipment anyway.
