I got this western 7.5' plow for free but it is missing the controls, I see the holes where the cables go into the housing but am not sure how it works, if I connect 12 volt to the pump terminals it runs non stop, is there an electric switch that gets activated when the control cables get moved. I had a newer version of this same plow but it was all electric, no cables.

Not sure what Im gonna do with it but even if I sell it I want it to work, might try and rig it to my tractor also.

Thanks, JB.

Go to westernplow.com then publications library and you can download the owners manual for your plow. It has all the info you need such as cable and wiring part numbers and diagrams.

Thanks, WOW! they do have a very informative, detailed owners manual with all kinds of tech stuff and even the theory of their systems, way beyond your run of the mill owners manuals.

It's kinda what I thought, there's a relay that turns on the pump at the same time the the cables actuate the valves.
So I need the joystick, cables and electric wires and relay.

Might just keep the blade and angle with the tractor's hydraulics. then sell the pump assembly, a new one cost $1,700.00, they're on eBay for $500.00 used.

I forgot to mention that's what I did when I bought a used western plow. I downloaded all the manuals, made my own truck frame and ordered the truck wiring harness I needed. After that it was just plug everything in and go. Ended up being 1/4 of the price of a new plow package.

You can also go to plowsite dot com or letstalksnow dot com and check out their respective classified sections. Someone on there probably has what you need - some of those guys have tons of plow stuff!
