The YM1802 and most other XX02 tractors have wet brakes. They are bathed in the transmission oil. The tractors with wet brakes usually have a rubber boot around the brake rod going into the brake case.

do they last longer than non-wet brakes?

I have not seen any wet or dry brakes worn out. They don't get used much as a rule on a tractor. The wet brakes seem to be slightly better as far as stopping quicker and with less effort.
