Kubota M7040
Does anyone have any information/experience on whether the "wet clutch" on the Kubota "hydraulic shuttle" transmission is better than the "dry clutch" on the "synchronized shuttle" transmission?

I have been told the "wet clutch" will outlast the "dry clutch" by years. I am considering getting the optional "hydraulic shuttle" transmission on a new Kubota 4WD M7040.

The life of any dry clutch depends on the operator. Some dry clutches are just fine after 2000 hours, some are worn out in 400. The nice thing about a wet clutch and hydraulic shuttle is it is less prone to wear from slipping. It is more dependant on regular oil changes and keeping the oil clean. But with regular maintenance, the hydraulic shuttle and wet clutch should last indefinitely. (Kubota used to call it the "Ever Clutch") It's also nicer to use - spoils you for anything else.

Oh, come on Buzz. Just go ahead and spring for the hydraulic shuttle!

You know you want it!

Works great for loader work. . .and everything else!:D

Go wet, you'll never look back. Aside from longevity, the seamless F/R motion is worth it alone bb

Wet clutch on a cabbed tractor pays for itself quickly. A clutch lasts from 500-2000 hours depending on driver on a loader tractor. Splitting a cabbed tractor for a dry clutch job is about 3000$ around here at a dealer.

The wet clutch should live to 6000-8000 hours trouble free.
