When i said baffle.i didnt mean that divider, its that little cement box built around the exit pipe, sorry probably called it the wrong thing. These deteriate over time,as mine did, causing the "floatys' to enter your leech field.

Oh I see, anything causing floaties or sinkies to leave the tank is a problem.

So have you all noticed that hair does not decay? If you have ever dumped sludge you will also notice that tomato seeds are still fertile after making it "through" the systems.

I have a missing septic system on my remote property. I have found a couple of pipe risers and an as-built but I haven't tried the steel rod. I own a good length of 3/8" CR steel rod, good idea, I may poke around for it.

Im not trying to be gross, but up in this neck of the woods, the septic pumpers, charge extra,if there are any female products in the mix, they claim they have to skim that out with a net, because its not biodegradible. Not exactly my ideal dream job /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

At our city sewage treatment plant the first stage of treatment is screening. It is amazing the stuff that people flush. That is the most fun part of the whole plant. GI Joe men, female things, contraceptives, etc.

I get called out to design fixes for sunken sewer manholes too. You know the manhole has sunken into the earth because the manhole becomes flooded when normally it is dry except for the channel. Pretty entertaining how this works, see the odd things people flush tend to float down a partially full sewer line but when the sewer line becomes full at the sunken manhole the floaters hang up like a flooded cranberry field. When you open the lid to the sunken manhole you are greeted by a tank full of floaters. Female things are the most noticeable floaters.

I helped a farmer dig up his tank once. We finally got the 6' round top uncovered, lifted it up from one side, then................here comes his goat running at full speed and dives right into the tank. I was rolling on the ground laughing and the farmer yelled at me to help him get the goat out. I regrouped and held the cover up while he fished him out.

I guess that's a new one on me...never had a goat do a cannonball into the septic tank. Must have been pretty stinky for a while. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
