After 7 years of use it was time to strip and repaint the rotary cutter. This has been a very very good and one tough rotary cutter. It has ingested and crushed more rocks then the local rock crusher. LOL It's a Tuffy rotary cutter made by Bush Hog. After taking a sledge to it to remove some of the dents and to straighten the side wings I applied primer paint and then the color top coat. The original color of the cutter was red but I'm to cheap to go and by more paint when I have plenty laying around I can use and no, it's not New Holland or Ford blue.

I sure looks like New Holland blue; looks good, in fact, as long as you're using it with a blue tractor.;)

What no safety chains dangling down to shorten your "kill radius" as regards launching debris at various targets, live and otherwise? Pat

Nice paint job.
I am another one that should have chains hanging from both ends of my bush hog, especially with some of the woods I have been clearing. I absolutely will not bush hog with anyone nearby, and if I see anyone approaching, the first thing that goes is the pto switch. I still ought to take the time to add them just in case. No telling who's life or window I might save.

Or your tires. I added the guards to my first brush hog after watching it through a limb about the size of my arm under the tractor and straight out in front of me for a good 50 feet or more. If it had hit one of my tires, I suspect that might have cost more than the chain guards.

Thanks all.

Bird,

The color is actually Rhino International blue from my old Rhino chinese tractor. Pic below.

So, where would someone be able to shop on line for a generic to fit chain guards or any other type of guards? I admit I do need some. The cutter never came with them when I bought it new. Wish I knew what model number it crossed reference with of the Bush Hog cutters. The cutter is a TUFFY T4 built by Bush Hog for Enlow Tractor here in Oklahoma. Enlow is a large wholesaler here. Check out his prices. They are for real but he doesn't ship or take plastic.

You can always fab some up out of angle iron and many short pieces of chain then weld chain to angle and drill holes and bolt to cutter.
Nice paint job:)

I have no idea where you could find them. Like wushaw said, I made my own for both of my brush hogs.

I used 5/8" rubber. the same type you would put on a plow blade. I used the existing holes on the hog and used 3/8" bolts. Brought the rubber right to the ground, works like a mulcher nothing comes out execpt clippings. Got the rubber at a V-belt company locally.
