Well said Mr. Brown.

Don nobody meant anything against Kioti owners

***Are you suggesting that because a hurricane is coming that all the posts be shut down except the posts dealing with the hurricane?

***Looks like this one might have been.

Actually it was probalby my fault.

Sometimes people take offense to factual information, and sometimes I over react to their over reaction. But I have little tolerance for some things and when it is suggested that we can't discuss pricing because of a storm, when in fact some of us come here to get a breath of relief from that storm, then it just gets me. I have essentially suspended my daily work to give my time to Katrina relief and the implication that we shouldn't be curious about other things is simply insulting.

I felt that the thread needed to be closed.

Looks like it was deleted. That happens quite often when tempers flare in a color VS color question.

edit.......I guess what I meant to say was Brand VS Brand. Model VS Model doesn't usually get "that" hot. But that one was posted in a forum relating to one Brand, I could see where that might have gotten ugly real quick.

Nope, there was none of that. Honestly a guy interrupted and suggested that wondering what was on the minds of tractor buyers should not have been discussed given that we have hurricanes to worry about, and he did it in an insulting way. One of the moderators even posted defending my post. Several people then suggested that TBN is in fact a tractor forum not a weather forum. I jumped and I was wrong to write what I wrote. It was honest. It was blunt. It was true. But it didn't need to be said in public. Muhammad was right to delete the thread.

Bob,
Please remember that the moderators are TBN members first and moderators second. That means we get to post our thoughts and opinions just like every other TBN member. Just because someone agrees with one of your posts and they happen to also be a moderator does not mean that all the moderators agree with your position. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Well there is good out of all this! overall, that had been a pretty even handed thread, i am sorry that I may have contributed to the melt down, But..

What Bob admitted about his involvement in Katrina relief proves that he is an amazing guy, and we are truly bledded to have him in our ranks! No wonder some of us dolts get under his Skin.

MossRoad . . . there were two moderators who posted after my observation, you were one of those. The other moderator defended my post. I actually sent him a PM and told him that I overstepped and that he should feel free to delete or edit my post. He declined. I don't believe I said that ALL moderators agreed with me. I believe I said that a moderator defended my post.

Mike . . . thanks for the bit of support. I've got my people right now down in New Orleans, I spent most of yesterday on emails and phone calls coordinating more people to replace my folks when they come home in October. Yesterday I even worked up a "scholorship" type program within our industry, companies that don't have a spare employee can financially sponsor someone from another company that can spare the types of volunteers we need down there (some skill levels are more important than others). It is often too expensive to help so the scholorship/sponsorship program can help defray the costs, it is costing me more than 3 weeks of pay (travel + living expenses & wages) for every one week my employees are down there, and I have several of my manager level employees down there. With Rita coming up I'm hearing reports of a breach in one of the levies in N.O. already this morning my guys may be evacuated up to Baton Rogue? Fortunately my guys are working in an area that didn't get flooded, so after the rain stops they should be able to get back to work. So I guess I am 'emotionally involved' in the hurricane issue, and I took it as insulting and contrite that someone could be so crass as to assume that people who want to talk about tractors, pricing, buying decisions, and the thoughts that make up the buying/pricing process are not also working and worrying about the events along our gulf shores.

I believe I said that a moderator defended my post.

I know what you wrote. However, by writing that a moderator defended your post makes it sound like that gives it credibility. The title of moderator has nothing whatsoever to do with wisdom or knowledge... I'm proof of that. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif What you should have written was that a staunch supporter of Deere products with years of real world experience that has weighed the cost VS the benefit has supported your findings. That would hold more weight with me and many other folks much more than writing a moderator agreed with you.

I'm also glad that you got to read my reply. Many folks cannot justify laying out a significant portion of their income for no see-able advantage in work that can be accomplished with a tool. If someone on a tight budget sees that tool A can do the same work that tool B can do and tool A costs 1/3 of their annual income while tool B costs 1/2 their annual income, chances are they are going to go for the most bang for their limited buck. Everybody here doesn't have the same income level. While we would all like to purchase what is perceived as the very best possible tool on the market, sometimes we have to purchase the most practical one instead. And, to me, the most practical tool for someone's particular needs IS the best tool on the market for them. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
