I had a health scare this past year that landed me in a cardiac ICU for testing. All the tests came back good, but it shed a spotlight on the fact I need to start taking better care of myself.
Last year, I traveled like crazy for work, staying in hotels for over 250 nights. The last 12 weeks of the year were even crazier with me working many 20 hour days and putting a ton of stress on myself. I don't eat fast food, but I do eat expensive dinners at nice restaurants. Problem is most food that tastes good is also high in sodium. Also, when you work so much, it's hard to make sure you get the proper exercise. In addition, I wasn't focusing on my health. In another thread, I posted about cataracts, as I've let my eye(s) deteriorate.
Apart from scheduling the cataract surgery, my goal this year is to eat healthier and get more exercise. I quit all alcohol, except an occasional glass of wine with dinner, and joined Planet Fitness with the "work out anywhere" package so I can use it on the road.
I have another hunt planned for Africa in June. I'll be taking the wife and kids and we plan to also visit Victoria Falls and some other spots. My goal is to be back in tip-top shape for that trip.
