It's been a doozy of a summer around here. Have had barely 10" of rain for the year. Have a horse that has foundered. Keeping us busy. Scrambled for West Nile Virus shots. It wasn't supposed to get here this year, so the serum was in short supply. Put a new roof on the house. Tried to expain to the wife that you don't need a roof if it doesn't rain! Women! But on the upside, I got .8" of rain two days ago and I get my first grandchild later this month!!!

From Minnesota the summer has been very unusual. Normally you can expect a wet spring and dry very humid July and August. This year we had low temps and averaged over 1 inch of rain each week during August.
From Montana the summer has been very dry and hot. Broke all records for high temps and almost record low rainfall.
Hard to figure if global warming is to blame or just a cycle we must live through.

I used to think that too. Then it became painfully obvious that no matter how busy we were, or weren't, the seasons still went by fast. Then it dawned on me that the speed of the seasons was directly tied to the increase in my age. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

The older I get, the faster the seasons go by! /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Man, ain't that the truth. I remember how long a year seemed when I was a kid. Now the months seem like weeks, and the weeks seem like days. I wanted to speed time up when I was younger; just couldn't wait to be all grown up. Oh well. Too soon old, and too late wise.

Congratulations on the Grandchild.
About two years ago I mentioned to my kids at a Thanksgiving dinner that I was well past the age where I should have grandchildren.
Found out one was pregnant then and she had a girl July 2nd 2001, then another daughter had a girl on December 24th 2001, another had a boy on April 6th 2002, the last daughter is due October 15th 2002, and the first daughter is due again in March 2003.
Sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for.

Hey Golfgar4!

You've hit on my theory of "Age Relativity" which is:

** You go through life at the speed of your age **

A ten year old is going through life at 10 years per hour (can't wait for Christmas day - 3 days seems like an eternity). Contrast that to me, I am going through life at 53 years per hour and ..... [censored], there went another week!

I work at an organization (hospital) that cannot get anything done in a timely manner or even make a decision about simple things. If someone says, "I'll have that done next week" we all know that means 3 months. We work in dog years. It all works out OK, though, the hospital is working in dog years and I'm traveling at 53 years/hour -- everything seems normal to me!

Hey Gnawbone....just a friendly hello from one who spent a dozen years living in Bloomington and kicking around Brown County....had a store in Nashville, IN for several years in the 70's and used to rent a garage in Gnaw Bone. What a great name for a small town and an even better handle for a TBNer. Welcome!
