I've used McFeely's stainless steel square drive screws for years on decks and many other things too. I recently did a rebuild of the Mendocino deck with about 4000 3 1/2" screws. Redwood deck boards into treated doug fir joists. Two of them broke running into thick knots, otherwise not a problem. I think the torx or spider drive is a better design, but the square drive has worked just fine for me for a long time. The dquare drive bits in local hardware stores are usually crap, they will strip your screws or break off. I get those from McFeeley or McMaster-Carr.

Home Depot and Deckmate really messed up with those screws. Worse things that I've ever used. They put little bits of meta in between the screw threads that caused the screws to strip out instead of grabbing and pulling. Lowes continued to carry the good ones that have not been modified to the new version. Home Depot doesn't have those bad screws anymore.

When I clicked on your link, it took me to the good screws.

I had to go with SS torx head screws. The coated ones were corroding.

The important part of the link was in the reviews.

I hate having to return things and since I'm generally ordering on line I didn't want to order 5 or 10lbs of screws and then have to return them.
