what are the disadvantages to a 3 point back hoe?

I stand corrected. I was unaware that break resulted from a FEL operation. Either I missed that thread or a senior moment occurred. Probably the later. Anyways, this is further proof that a front to rear support is desired to stiffen up tractor and use of discretion when using the tractor/implements.

Thanks for the reply John,
I have a question on the subframe. Looking at your site there is some good info on the frame mount (for the 200 series). The question I have is where does the back of the frame connect to the tractor? The front connects to the FEL mount, that I can see but I'm not sure about the rear mounting point. Is it to the rear axle lift arm connection point? What type of steel is the frame made of, square tubing, flat plate, channel or .... and also size?

I'm thinking of perhaps building a subframe if none are available so any info is greatly appreciated. BTW I have a Koyker 160 on it with rear axle supports.

I have sold/installed many 3 point mounted backhoes over the years with out issue. If you install a unit too large for your application you are asking for trouble,As HarryGoodwrench stated,A stiffner bar to tie the loader mount to the rear axle is a big plus. You should also go over the tractor on a regular basis to check for loose bolts just like we all do now- RIGHT ??

Shifty,

Can you provide any specs, perhaps a web site for this back hoe.
Never heard of Taylor Way backhoes, are replacement parts available?

The triangular piece in http://www.johnstractor.com/files/backhoe12D.jpg mounts on the pins of the 3pt arms, after they are removed. You can see in that picture that the frame is mostly square tubing with some areas being C channel. If making from scratch use all square tubing. I'll have to go measure the frame size tommarrow.
