Like others have said...location...location...location...
I live 30 miles west-north west of Charlotte NC...
The growth of Charlotte is driving up land prices here in Catawba County...
The farm that I live on is 100 acres...
My dad turned down 2M five years ago...
Now it would bring 2.5 to 3M...
It's in my name now...
It's not for sale...
A new highway took my homeplace in 03...
The state gave my father 320K for the house and 2 acres of land that was valued at 180K...
And then they paid him 540K for the remaining 23 acres...
That was in 03...
This is still not over...
He was left with 49 acres on the interchange...
It's for sale...
A 22 acre parcel across the road from his property brought 5.5M...
And get this...
The final grading and paving is not scheduled to start until August of next year...
They're not making any more land...
And the cost associated with ownership will continue to rise...
