Apologies for making the thread about me there for a bit....sometimes I get off topic.
Please go back to the topic of helping other people.

To PMSmechanic, my wife uses zoom to teach her 1st grade class from home

I don't have a problem with the thread being about you for a bit. As far as I'm concerned that's just the way threads work and if we can help you out a bit during the thread, well as far as I'm concerned that's what threads are for!

Supporting my wife while her and I take care of her dying mother. It's gut wrenching.

Prayers to all, I've been through this and it's hard. It does help to talk to others who are also taking care of loved ones.

Staying with the theme, we helped a friend who is single and lives alone. Her 92 year old mother just fell and broke her hip. She is remarkably on the mend and now in a rehab bed getting therapy. Our friend is her daughter and she or no one else is allowed to visit the facility.

We helped our friend move a bed into her home, practicing social distancing as much as possible. This bed is for her mother to sleep in so her daughter can sleep next to her on the couch to take care of her. Wife and I felt so glad to help her out, we know what she's facing.

I have been working on the technology parts. I am switching our church phone system over to VOIP so each staff person can take their office phone home or answer it virtually. I have twice now recorded the Sunday service and streamed or uploaded them to YouTube.
A friend of a friend lives down in a valley and gets no cell service and they are about a half a Km from the last Internet service provider. Their only option is dialup and that really does not work. There are three homes clustered with no services. They typically go to a coffee shop to connect and call their son who is living across the Pacific. They are struggling in these days with everything shut down and isolated. I just offered them a solution to extend Internet from the top of the hill to the three homes. They will get about 50 to 100Mbps.
Layoffs in the retail and service industry is huge. Our food bank is seeing a great increase in new people who have never visited before. I encourage everyone to make an extra donation to their closest food bank and soup kitchen. I can afford a tractor and have a pantry full of food so a few hundred to each organization each month is our approach for the difficult months ahead.

Stay safe.

Ordered curb side take out at a restaurant here in town. Usually it would be full of patrons on a Friday night.

We've been trying to do that on a regular basis. We're hitting up all of our "regular" restaurants. When we pick up our food, we also buy a good-sized gift certificate. The gift certificate help them with cash flow, bringing in money without the associated expenses. We'll hold on to these and any older gift certificates until well after this thing is behind us. Basically, it's an interest-free loan. It's a bit of a gamble, since if they don't survive, the certificates are worthless. However, we figure if we can increase the chances of them making it through this, it's worth the risk.
