That yardtool has me interested. I see it is basically a non-powered version of a power rake.
a power rake looks awesome, and if I found a good deal on one I would buy it in a heartbeat. How close does the yardtool come?
I can see where it would be easier to smooth with than a box blade because of breaking up the existing great.
my interest is peaked.
I have one of these that I use to drag our riding arena (which is sand). If you look at the picture, you'll see I made a scraper blade to clean off the sand when it's wet/damp. Without it, it would build up until the nubs were gone and then the roller wouldn't roll well. Only a problem when sand was wet but since I still drag then I had to modify it. I wouldn't use it as a primary tool to rip up hard pack because you CAN bend the teeth if you catch a rock AND it's not designed to go down really deep anyway. But if you have a somewhat loose base that you want to smooth, level and pack some it will work well.
I think it works best in dryer loose soil that you are trying to prepare for seeding or for dragging riding arena's like I use it for. It does NOT work well on material with large rocks (fist size or larger) since when the roller hits the rock, it rdies up and over it, lifting the roller up and leaving a hump of material until the roller comes back down. Hope this helps.
PS I bought it new for $1100, 6 foot wide
