With all this talk going on about rear blades for the BX, I am starting to think that it might be a good idea for clearing the balance of snow that the Ford F250 plow leaves behind. Any recommendations at to what brands are better than others?????? size comments also welcome.. Would a rear blade have enough weight so the loader will have sufficient counter balance???? What is the correct amount of counter balance for a BX 22 loader???? This will be for a paved driveway..... 2500 feet long....

Regarding weight...I use either a home-grown concrete weight on the 3pt (a galvanized laundry bucket filled with concrete) or put the BH on the machine. Either one is more than enough weight for moving snow...it handled about 24"-30" no problem the last storm!

Wouldn't it be hard to put a rear blade on with the BH on as well /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I don't want to keep the backhoe on the tractor for the winter. I know my luck and I will probably back into something with it. Would like to keep it somewhat compact back there. I have the Kubota rear box that says 300# for a BX, but that doesn't seem like the correct amount to me if you are going to use the loader..... I have about 600 1# lead ingots that I was thinking of using, but I would rather know what is correct than experiment to find the optimum amount. I prefer to learn from others and minimize my mistakes...

I just picked up a Woods RB60 rear blade for snow on my B7500. Instead of getting a less expensive RB I went with the Woods because of the multiple angles. Even though I have no use "today" for some of the uses (extra angles), I know I will kick myself later for not going the extra $100 when I need it.

This blade is heavy, it will be a good counter balance for the FEL loaded with snow. Like the problem with BH, I only hope I avoid a "senior moment" and don't back it through the garage wall when I'm backing up in a snow storm /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif.

I think the KK RB-OT series is good enough for the light use. It has tilt and offset, and will set you back only $230 or so.

Hi...

Rear blade for snow clearing...

Get one with a tall moldboard (plow blade)... ability to angle... ability to turn 180 degrees so plowing backwards is possible... plowing backwards works well even with the blade facing forward...

On mine... had a welding shop fabricate 2 removable side wings for the blade... works excellent for pulling/pushing snow... some times use both wings... sometimes just one when I angle the blade to deflect the snow...

I have a Corriher Implement rear blade and have never seen one of any brand at any price I like better. Corriher has their blades made for them, and I think the actual manufacturer is Midwest Equipment. Mine is a 60" with tilt, offset and angle, it weighs in something over 250#? The design is great because everything is set up to be adjusted with pins, not with bolts. You can offset the blade either direction at least 12", tilt it to multiple angles, and rotate every which way. . . all without tools. They are powder coated instead of being painted, so the finish is stronger. And Corriher sells them in several "colors" so you can match your tractor if you want to.

As for the question about weight, as it a blade enough weight to offset a FEL. I think the simple answer is the best. NO.

I also bought a new RB60 for about $300 including 6% sales tax. Maybe $275 before tax..
Fits great, cn spin all the way around when liftes, and is easily the most heavy duty bade I personally could find. The next closest was the landpride, which was also very heavy duty.

The RB60 also has a nice built in stand.
