What brand?

Some comments based on my humble experience:
Alo is good and well supported by its US distribution arm. They are good at matching their products to each tractor. And they have a collection of attachments that will amaze you, but no 4 in one bucket (I bought Bradco). But you should convert their "Euro" tool carrier (attachment plate) to skid steer compatible. I bought the Kasco Unihitch, not spectacular but it works.

I am partial to JD & New Holland, but Case makes good tractors (now part of New Holland). I tried out a CX90 with a Perkins diesel, lots of stability and ummmph. And the best cab I have seen. But my NH TN90F has more horses.

Case's loaders are really strong, but I suspect they (like those of New H) come from some 3rd party. Who?

Happy hunting,
Jim

Case,JD,and NH are the three brands I will make my final decision from. Found a Patu loader and trailer I like but I'm not sure exactly what brand i will get. If I get Case or NH I will put an ALO loader on it, but if I go with JD I will get the JD brand loader because they are one good looking loader.

It may be too late to add my 2 cents, but I am very happy with my Kubota M9000 with a LA 1251 loader. The cab is quiet, comfortable and has available charcoal filters for spraying operations. The loader is fast and sturdy. Quick release bucket is standard, and removal of the loader is very easy due to mid position hydraulics. The turbo diesel puts out 90 gross and 80 pto HP, and has plenty of power for a 7 ft. rotary cutter in dense brush, or with the loader clearing out sapplings or knocking over fairly sizeable stumps. The tractor starts easily, even if I don't get to use it for a week or two. I bought it to change over about 50 acres of corn to grass and then to cut and bale the hay, and to maintain another 40 acres of wooded land. Several local professional farmers have admitted that they would get a Kubota if they needed a new tractor, although they don't, which says something about their JDs.

I did think about the kubota's but I wasn't sure about them. I'm going with the case or JD for their weight, power and large hydrolic capabilities t run my log loader. The M9000 just doesn't have as much pressure or gpm's. I've also found a fewe used tractors that i like. I found a JD 6300 4wd w/cab and 640SL loader, a JD 7210 cab 4wd w/740SL loader. A kubota M120 4wd w/cab and M960 loader. The last two are larger tractors But I can get them for the same prices as new JD 6310 4wd w/cab and 640SL loader. I'm leaning towards the JD's if I buy used but I'll have to pick up some kubota literature before I would know for sure.

I just found a deal that seems pretty good to me. A Belarus 5390 4wd w/cab and Hardy loader. A Farma log trailer w/loader and ans a farmi logging winch for the same price as the used 7210 Jd. I'm thinking about this unit because the tractor is in very good shape. It is very new and so is all the equipment. I have a dealer that still sells Belarus tractors so I can get parts.

There are a lot of third world tractors available. They only excel in weight and reliabilty has not been one of their strong points.

If you were concerned about the reliability of a tractor, I would be very cautious. If you drive the Belaurus and then drive the M9000 or M120 Kubota Cabs and go through all the same motions, they are world's apart in mechanical performance and reliabilty as well.

What are the prices like on the valmet tractors?

Valmet prices

Here in North America they are actually lower priced than the major brands. This is not the same everywhere they are sold. If you have dealers in your state or province,do check them out. There are a few owners of them from different parts of the world on Machinery Talk over at @gOnline. Post a message over there and I'm sure you'll get some responses about them. www.agriculture.com
